owder Mitts are an old tradition dating back to the 16th Century France where women were always "powdered" when they entered the court. It is a luxurious feeling to powder after a bath but it can be a mess and get everywhere if one is not careful. A soft, fluffy, luxurious way to avoid this is to sew talcum powder into a fleece mitt. It feels soft and distributes the gentle silky bursts perfectly. Puff puff!
What You'll Need: 1/2 c Your Favorite Talcum Powder
Cotton Rectangle
Fleece Rectangle
Umbrella Vinyl Rectangle- All Measuring 6" x 4 /12"
Scissors
Sewing Machine
Directions: 1. Layer the three layers of fabric. Fold the three rectangles lengthwise in half and trim one end of the layers in a half circle.
2. Sew the three layers of fabric together. First tack the fleece, wrong side to vinyl, to the vinyl, then sew the fleece/vinyl combination to the cotton, turn up the bottom of the cotton so that you don't have a raw edge at the bottom, as if you were sewing a pillow, wrong sides facing each other.
3. Fill the vinyl/fleece area with talcum powder and close the bottom of the fleece/vinyl shut by turning the raw edges toward each other and machine sewing them together.
