pas are a fantastic day outing for a pack of your closest girlfriends but unfortunately, they can run anywhere from $20-$80 a person for entry alone without treatments! A low cost, equally as pampering, and less stifling (at most spas I've been to there is no talking allowed and my friends and I usually get shushed several times during the course of a visit) is a spa party.
Here are some quick and easy ways to concoct masques and beauty treatments that are sure to relax and be enjoyable at the same time. No spa treatment is complete without a manicure and pedicure so while you're all at it, get a variety of fun, frivolous, inexpensive nail colors and do each other's nails. This evening of luxurious decadence should include candles, native American flute music (Carlos Nakai is my favorite), aromatherapy, massages, facials, hair mud, scrubs, lavender steams, and plenty of fresh in season fruit and mineral water.
Recipes for your spa night with the girls:
Steam Treatment
Ingredients:
- 2 cups water, brought to a boil
- 2 to 3 drops lavender essential oil
- 1 tsp. mint leaves
Preparation:
Add ingredients to boiling water. Turn off heat, drape a towel over your head and hold your face over the steam six to eight inches away. Steam face for five minutes to open pores.
Hydration Infusion Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white
- 2 to 3 drops vitamin E oil
Preparation:
Whip the egg and vitamin to a nice froth and apply to the face, neck and décolleté with fingers. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.
Exfoliating Mask
Ingredients:
- 1/2 asian pear, peeled and seeded
- 4 strawberries
- 1 Tbs. brewer's yeast
- 1 Tbs. water
Preparation:
Purée all ingredients in blender. Apply to face and neck with fingers or a makeup brush and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. This will exfoliate the skin, while the B vitamins in the yeast nourish the skin.
Pore Tightening Mask
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/4 cup honey
Preparation:
Put oats in blender and chop very finely. Pour oats into a dish containing the honey and mix thoroughly. Apply to skin and leave on 10 to 15 minutes.
Nutritional Smoothing Mask
Ingredients: - 1Tsp Honey
- 1 tsp milk
- 1-2 drops lemon juice
Preparation:
Blend in a bowl. Apply to skin for 10 to 15 minutes.
Rejuvenating Cucumber Mask
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Grate cucumbers with peel. Apply a layer of honey, then cucumber, avoiding your eyes. Apply for 10 to 15 minutes.
